We offer assessments for children under 6 years of age. Children may be referred by their parents/caregivers, families, Plunket nurses, health professionals and educators.

Anyone who might have concerns about a child's development can contact us.

Individual sessions

We offer an individual Conductive Education Programme for children who are less than 6 months of age. Through this ongoing programme our conductors work in partnership with parents/caregivers and their children to achieve the age appropriate milestones.

 

Beginners Group

This is the first group for most infants and young children between the age of 6 months - 3 years with cerebral palsy or developmental delay. The group operates daily for 2.5 hours. Parents /caregivers accompany their children during the sessions to learn ways in an encouraging and positive atmosphere to motivate and assist their children. Parents also gain assistance on how to apply the tasks at home.

Our programme covers all aspects of child development such as gross motor skills, manipulation, play activity, cognitive skills, communication, integration, social skills and self care.

Advanced Beginners Group

This class is for children who are more independent and have more advanced abilities between the ages of 15 months - 3 years. The class operates daily for 2.5 hours. Children participate in the programme with their parents or caregivers.

The programme covers all aspects of child to achieve the age appropriate level in all areas of their development such as gross motor skills, fine manipulation skills, play activity, cognitive skills, speech, communication, interaction, social skills and self care. The programme is focusing on improving independence at problem solving according to their age level and at facing challenges, to prepare them for future classes without parental accompaniment.

Advanced Group

This class is for children who are more independent, have good general rhythm and are reasonably advanced. As with the Kindergarten Group this group aims to maximize the child’s ability including preparation for independent walking and successful transition into mainstream. The sessions operate daily for 3 hours.

Young Walking Group

This group is for children who are already walking between the ages of 2 - 5 years and operates 3 times a week in the afternoon. These sessions are 2 hours in length. Children participate in the programme without their parents or caregivers. The aim is to improve the walking rhythm, balance and coordination of the walking, fine motor skills, speech, to achieve the age appropriate skills of cognitive development, interaction and socialization, play activities and self care, to develop self control for problem solving.

Walking Group

This Group is for children who are already walking aged 4 - 10 years. The group operates twice a week in the afternoon and the length of the session is 2 hours. The aim is to build and maintain the walking rhythm and balance which is done through a variety of challenges. The programme covers all aspects of child development such as gross motor skill, fine manipulation skills, play activity, cognitive skills, speech, interaction, social skills and self care.

 
After School Group

This group operates twice a week for 2 hours in the afternoon and for children aged 5 - 10 years who have the history of attending a Conductive Education Centre. The aim of the group is to maintain and promote the child's development. Conductors are also in close contact with the child's school to ensure teachers and teacher aides receive the advice as to how they can assist the child's development and promote integration into the school environment.

Swimming Class

It is led every Friday in the afternoon for half an hour by a conductor for children who are attending one of our Conductive Education sessions. Through the active tasks children learn water confidence, breathing and swimming techniques and water safety. They are accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
